We are currently only taking patients from out of the province, unable to accept patients who already have a provider in Invercargill due to clinician numbers and recent change in staff numbers.

Enrolling with our practice

Invercargill Medical Centre would like to advise that they currently have Nurse Practitioners taking on new patients. General Practitioners at this time are unable to enrol any further patients under their care however their Nurse Practitioner colleagues have vacancies.

All new patients to Invercargill Medical Centre will be booked with one of our registered nurses prior to their first appointment with a clinician, this is so they can take ensure all your information from your previous medical centre has been received and that your current medical condition is recorded for the clinician to be able to appropriately assess and evaluate you.

We have made our enrolment form available for you to download and complete in the comfort of your own home. If you don’t have the availability to download this just pop into our clinic or call us and we will mail one out to you.

Complete the form for each person wishing to enrol and return it to our practice. We will process your registration and request your medical file from your previous practice. Children over 16 years need to sign their own form.

Once you have completed the enrolment form just drop it off at the practice, please remember to take some photo ID to the practice with you along with the completed enrolment form.

If you have multiple problems and require a longer consultation time please discuss this with reception at the time of booking your appointment.

If you move or decide to change to another GP we can forward your medical files to the new GP, all we need you to do is to give us signed permission to do so. Children over 14 years of age need to sign the permission themselves (this is a requirement of the Privacy Act 1993).

Enrolling with our practice gives you the following benefits:

  • Free appointments for children under 13
  • Reduced consultation fees
  • Reduced ACC fees
  • Reduced prescription charges
  • Free childhood immunisations
  • Free maternity care for the first 14 weeks
  • Free flu vaccinations for eligible patients
  • Continuity of care
  • Access to funded screening programmes

Most practices throughout New Zealand are members of a Primary Health Organisation (PHO). PHOs receive funding from the government to provide primary health services to their communities. By enrolling with our practice you will benefit from these services and reduced charges. Enrolment is free and voluntary however if you do not wish to enrol you can still be seen at our practice but the cost will be higher as you will be defined as a casual patient.

The Ministry of Health website has a guide to the eligibility criteria for funding enrolled patients. Eligibility for non New Zealand residents funding is dependent on your work visa status.
