Work For Us
Invercargill Medical Centre
We are a busy, modern, medical centre, purpose-built in 2015 and situated close to the heart of Invercargill on Don Street. We are 100% owned by South Link Health Services, under the umbrella of the South Link Education Trust.
We are very fortunate to have 8 GP’s, 2 Nurse Practitioners, 2 Nurse Prescribers, 10 Nurses, 2.5 Clinical Assistants, 9 Medical Receptionists and a Business Manager.
We are part of WellSouth, who are our PHO.
We are incredibly supportive of each other, in the work that we do for our patients. Our clinicians enjoy fantastic support from our nursing team and our administrators. We have champion roles for both teams from the nurses who have a special interest in diabetes. We run 2 clinics each week to cater for patient needs with liaison from a clinician. We provide spirometry, ultrasounds, falls and fragility, Aclasta infusions, ear suctioning and many other services.
We run a purpose-built Triage area to see urgent on the day patients and a minor operations room for minor surgeries within the scope of General Practice.
The support these teams provide is remarkable and there is amazing collegial support within our Practice.
We have over 13,500 registered patients with approximately 2000 non- enrolled patients (these patients are either non-eligible or entitled to register as a patient). 22% of our registered population are Māori or Pasifica. We are proactive in ensuring equity and we have mandatory training for Cultural competency, Te Tiriti o Waitangi, Privacy and Child Safety.
We conduct full inductions onsite for all new staff members. We provide ongoing training to keep up to date with regulations and have weekly full team meetings.
We are open Monday to Friday and operate morning and afternoon sessions. Each session has twelve 15-minute patient appointments.
We use the latest version of cloud-based Medtech Evolution as our Patient Management System, and we have Manage My Health, so patients can look at their results, book appointments and order repeat prescriptions. We have a Dunedin-based South Link Health IT team who are supportive and knowledgeable and assist whenever we encounter issues. We have strong collegial relations with primary and secondary services, as well as pharmacy and allied health. We are Foundation-accredited.
